Hotel “Gandvik” has become the second means of accommodation (the first one is “Nevskaya” hotel***, Petrozavodsk, laureate of the 4th Republican competition “Leaders of Karelia Tour Business” of the Ministry of Economic Development of Republic Karelia in nomination “The best hotel complex”) within the framework of a large-scale programm of company development of the tourist market of Karelia.
The choice of this particular object is not random – the regional center, recreational object on the way of tourist routes to the Solovetsky Islands, the White Sea Petroglyphs and the White Sea itself. Without a doubt “Gandvik” hotel and other accompanying objects of KareliaOpen will soon become one of the popular centers of tourist and recreational complex in the Republic.
Until recently the hotel was a low-class post-Soviet building that being in modern conditions could not present civilized service and was characterized by extreme wear of the facilities. Today the hotel is going through a new stage of its development – by the end of 2007 “Gandvik” (the re-birth is connected with the retrieval of the name) will become a modern European-level hotel with a wide range of service. Beside a cozy restaurant and bar there will be a multipurpose gym, SPA, tanning salon, beauty parlor, and laundry room. The project envisages
site improvement, and creation of summer cafe, car parking lot, park area, modern embankment.
45 first category and suite rooms will be opened to the new tourist season. The target group will be organized tourist groups, individual tourist, citizens on business trips, VIPs.
“The hotel of the future” – thus the project was called by local mass media. The investors of the company KareliaOpen are optimists. They have long ago and hopelessly fallen in love with Karelia and they believe in its prosperity. They speak with light irony about such serious things as sufficient investment into hotel business, underlining that the world is not governed by money alone, rather there is something more to it. Faith, for example. “We sincerely believe that in near future the tourists will undoubtedly discover for themselves a mysterious country with enigmatical name “Karelia”.
